CAHEC Celebrates 30 Years

In 2022, CAHEC celebrated a significant milestone, marking thirty years of investing in and strengthening communities. Throughout the year, this achievement was acknowledged and commemorated in various ways.

Established in December 1992 by David T. Peet, CAHEC served as a nonprofit syndicator exclusively in North Carolina. Today, the organization operates across 12 states and manages over $3.1 billion in capital. CAHEC has successfully syndicated over 810 communities, oversees the management of over 350 properties, and acts as the general partner in 230 communities.

Beyond its core focus on housing, CAHEC remains dedicated to enhancing communities at every level. Over the years, CAHEC has invested more than $17 million in community initiatives, encompassing areas such as post-secondary scholarships, food assistance, wellness grants, youth summer camp scholarships, and disaster relief funding.

CAHEC organized an anniversary party at the North Ridge Country Club in December to express gratitude to its partners and staff for their support and contributions. The event served as a tribute to the 30 years of tireless efforts dedicated to ensuring accessible and affordable housing for all.

CAHEC also arranged various internal and external activities to celebrate its 30th anniversary throughout the course of the year. These included the creation of a time capsule, filled with memory cards contributed by staff and partners. Additionally, meaningful 30th anniversary-themed gifts were presented to CAHEC employees. Finally, attendees were invited to reflect on CAHEC’s remarkable journey over the past three decades at the annual conference, resulting in a memorable video.
