Adaptability. Resourcefulness. Patience. Each are required hallmarks of an innovative organization, especially when operating in a tumultuous market. The ability to “think and act” out of one’s comfort zone – for the betterment of customers – often yields long term benefits that are far more valuable than short term gains. It affirms the principles and values that guide and drive us at CAHEC.

Regardless of one’s political affiliation or views on policy, the November election caused an immediate and material recalibration of equity markets that had not been seen since the 2008-2010 recession. Investors “paused” over the heightened chance of tax reform, housing finance agencies revisited previously allocated credits, and developers re-engineered their projects. Yet even with those disruptions, our industry never lost sight of the end game. The production of safe and affordable housing remained paramount, and I applaud all parties who were instrumental in furthering this collective mission.

Every day we strive to promote our vision – sustainable communities, offering housing and life-changing opportunities to residents – with integrity, attentiveness, and high-quality service. There are times that the path is less than smooth. That is okay. It is our ability to reassess that route while still meeting the needs of our partners that distinguishes and positions CAHEC for long term success.

I hope you enjoy this report highlighting our team’s performance the last year. As CAHEC celebrates our 25th anniversary, we hope you feel our appreciation for your contribution towards making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Sincerely,
