Message from the President

Message from the President

Dana S. Boole
President & CEO

Determination. Perseverance. Knowledge. Individually they are strong words. Collectively, they craft a formidable and sustainable message. Imagine that same message being told – not from a single person – but by a powerful chorus whose chemistry and harmony enlightens the audience. Furthermore, envision that message being deliberate and concerted. Only then will it persist and resonate through change and headwinds.

December’s passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act could have been a knockout punch to community investments. At risk was each federal credit – low income, new markets, and historic – along with the supporting programs that provide necessary resources to make communities viable and sustainable. If this critical investment tool were eliminated, so would future development of safe and affordable environments for the residents we serve. Yet in the end we more than survived – we thrived. We did so because our decade-long commitment towards our message – by residents, government officials, developers, syndicators, lenders, etc. – yielded results. Our drive in educating Congressional leaders about the impact of our industry, along with getting them to ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, and other forums, earned us a familiar face when fiscal and political hurdles were threatening our efforts.

CAHEC prides itself on being a thought leader and is always willing to “put itself out there” for causes in which it is passionate. By example, over the last 12 months we have remained vigilant in our effort to provide a better life for the residents we serve through our dedication to our message. We’ve been part of a chorus whose voices have been impactful and measurable.

We haven’t done this alone. Our partners allow us to make a difference and share the impact their investments have made. To that end, thank you and I hope you enjoy this report.

Sincerely,
